Prepping Walls for Painting

CLEANING
-
A good idea is to remove furniture and cover it.
-
Sand, dust and clean the walls. Vacuum floors and walls.
-
When painting a bathroom or kitchen sand walls, cover toilets, sink tops and counter tops and vacuum.
-
Scrape any cracked or flaking paint with a paint scraper. For other small imperfections on the wall such as plaster bumps, smooth them away with sandpaper.
-
Material ready for painting: primer, stir sticks, roller covers, paintbrushes (one for latex paint and one for oil-based paint), paint tray, gloves, drop cloth and an extension pole for the roller.
-
A high-quality primer will help to hide any small imperfections on walls. Use a good water-based primer on new drywall. Choose an oil-based primer for walls that have heavy stains from water or smoke damage.
-
Before painting, protect wall sconces and windows. A great tip is to do a "W" pattern to paint walls. Start in the corner of a wall cut brush and roll on a 3' by 3' "W"; then fill it in without lifting the roller. Repeat until the section is finished. This helps hide seams and any places where the roller has been lifted and put back on the wall again.
-
The best way to choose a color is to try it out first. You can never make a good decision based on looking at the color swatch in the store. The swatches don't always reveal the actual color when it dries. You can test a few colors of paint on a spare piece of wood and place it against the wall for sample.

About the Process
Pressure Cleaning
With AM Painting, Waterproofing, Residential, Commercial Remodeling and Coatings we offer Residential, Industrial and Commercial Pressure Cleaning.
A pressure washer is a high pressure mechanical sprayer used to remove loose paint, mold, grime, dust, mud, and dirt from surfaces and objects such as buildings, vehicles and concrete surfaces. The volume of a pressure washer is expressed in gallons or litres per minute, often designed into the pump and not variable. The pressure, expressed in pounds per square inch, pascals, or bar (deprecated but in common usage), is designed into the pump but can be varied by adjusting the unloader valve. Machines that produce pressures from 750 to 5,000 psi (5 to 200 MPa) or more are available.
This can assist and provide a guarantee extended life of any properly sealed painted or finished home, commercial building or Industrial structure, equipment etc.
Some washers, with an appropriate nozzle, allow detergent to be introduced into the water stream, assisting in the cleaning process. Two types of chemical injectors are available — a high-pressure injector that introduces the chemical after the water leaves the pump (a downstream injector) and a low-pressure injector that introduces the chemical before water enters the pump (an upstream injector). The type of injector used is related to the type of detergent used.
Our team of experts will take care of all the details and methods required to provide you will the cleaning and upkeep you need.
We have access to and usage of various equipment to get the job done right. This includes: rental available for scissor lifts, equipment operating, buckets, scaffolds, etc…
